ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Monday banned TV channels from airing a commercial of "Power Full (Energy Drink)" containing indecent and vulgar content.
According to a press release, the regulator received complaints from the public through Pakistan Citizen Portal (PCP) and PEMRA Complaints Call Centre. They criticized the concept of this advertisement which they said promoted vulgarity and unethical norms, especially among the youth.
PEMRA rules and regulations prohibit airing of any indecent, obscene, vulgar, or pornographic content.
"The TVC of Power Full (Energy Drink)" is hereby prohibited under Section 27 of PEMRA (Amendment) Act, 2007 with immediate effect. In case of noncompliance, legal action shall be initiated under Section 29 and 30 of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 as amended PEMRA Amendment Act, 2007,” the regulator said.
